A traditional company moves towards the future
Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank is a companies with a long tradition, a good reputation and a strong sense of responsibility for the local citizens and companies of the Baselland region. Switzerland, and therefore the Baselland region, is currently undergoing major political and social change. Last but not least, the coronavirus pandemic has caused some turbulence and uncertainty. All of this poses challenges that BLKB is actively addressing. Over two years ago, it therefore decided to undergo a holistic change process. Building on a solid past with a sound business model, the journey now continues towards the future.
Change also means holistic employee development
The change process also poses a number of challenges for BLKB itself, and not just on the business side. "Above all, employees are experiencing how the speed is increasing, processes are changing, we have to constantly rethink the status quo, show Ability to adapt and work in an increasingly interdisciplinary manner," reports Daniela Strohmeier, Senior Expert HR Development. This resulted in a logical and important step for BLKB: in addition to products and services, investments must also be made in the organization and in people - in a holistic manner.
Managers are important companions in the change process and must also be developed
Vera Würsch, HR and Organizational Development employee, states: "It's not just management tools and special methods that play a central role in management activities. Above all, social and personal skills such as self-management and Ability to give feedback are also important." This is why BLKB has set up the Leadership Academy. Here, managers develop special skills that help them to optimally accompany their employees on their development journey.
Recognizing and accepting the challenges of development
For many long-standing employees, it has often been several years since their last further training . They are now entering uncharted territory and suddenly find themselves caught between work and training. "This is a challenge that we see and that we try to counteract by giving our employees enough time to develop," reports Dieter Halbeisen, Head of Market Area Lower Basel Area & Basel.
Employee development is a matter of the heart
"As a manager, it is important to me personally that I continue to develop and support my employees," says Martina Manta, Head of the Partner & Numbers Processing Center. This is based on the goal and Mindset that employees can only remain employable and become confident in dealing with changes through continuous Competence training and development.
Skilly Award well deserved
The entire skillaware team would like to congratulate BLKB on the well-deserved Skilly Award and wish them continued perseverance and development strength for the challenging journey into the future
